History and conception of CTA

History and Conception of CTA:

We remember those days when Commerce teachers used to meet only one in a year, while evaluating CBSE answer sheets of Commerce subjects. We never knew who is sitting next to us. There was no common platform for Commerce teachers where they could meet and exchange their views, experiences, suggestions, teaching methods and problems.

On 29th April, 2007 at GHPS, Kalka Ji New Delhi  Shri S.K.Taneja, the then Head examiner and Dr.Dinesh Madan conceived an idea to form a common platform for Commerce teachers.

The first meeting was held on 9th June, 2007.at Navyug School, Lodhi Road. Teachers present there showed enthusiasm and appreciated the concept of a forum for Commerce teachers.

On  8th September, 2007 CTA organized its first workshop on Accountancy at Dr.Radhakrishnan International School, Defence Colony. Where Mr. S.S.Sehrawat was the speaker. It was attended by 45 teachers from South Delhi schools. At that time CTA was Commerce Teachers’ Forum. Teachers present at workshop were highly excited and showed lot of support to the forum.

On 19th December, 2007 it got registered in the name of Commerce Teachers’ Association and it took a formal shape In the past two years we CTA conducted various workshops, seminars, career counseling programs. I feel proud to mention that every time we got more support from the teachers than we had expected.

First Felicitation Function 2008

Among our pioneering activities, the most important was our First Felicitation Function-2008 which was organized at LTG, Auditorium on 6th September,2008.Prof. P.C.Jain, Principal Shri Ram College of Commerce honoured the students and their respective teachers. Besides him there were so many distinguished guests from ICAI, CBSE, DOE, Corporates present at the time of function.

It had been a unique initiative, as in the past no organization has conducted this kind of function where students and teachers were honoured together. This initiative was highly supported and appreciated by all spheres of society. As it had not only boosted the morale of Commerce teachers and students, at the same time it has enhanced their drive towards professional excellence.

Our every initiative has added a milestone in CTA’s success story.

First AGM

On 9th May,2009 we conducted our First AGM where our audited accounts were shown to the members so as to meet transparency in our functioning . We also planned activities for future. On the same day we invited Prof. A.K.Bhatnagar an eminent psychologist, who made us aware how to “Destress the stress”

CTA also put in representations regarding the enhanced syllabus for the subject Accountancy for the year 2009-10 onwards.

It’s a matter of great honour to add that as a result of efforts of CTA and other principals from Delhi schools that a part of enhanced syllabus was rolled back. This has really given a great relief to the students
